This was one of The Modern Firm’s longest standing clients, and it was important to further nurture that relationship by getting this redesign right. Chartier & Nyamfukudza is a Michigan based criminal defense firm representing individuals facing serious charges where the outcome can alter the course of their lives. They are known for taking on complex cases with confidence and bringing a trial ready mindset that does not flinch under pressure. The website needed to preserve the stark black and white aesthetic clients already responded to while translating it into a modern, refined experience with stronger usability.

My role began with the design call, where I translated the firm’s established tone, history, and client perception into a clear visual direction for the redesign. I guided the process through structure, tone, and art direction, working closely with designer Marc Gabrielle Laurio to evolve the aesthetic without losing its original impact. The final site honored what clients already trusted while dramatically improving clarity, flow, and overall user experience.

This work was completed as part of my role at The Modern Firm, where I led the creative direction and user experience strategy for the project. Development, copywriting, and project management were handled collaboratively by the TMF team. To learn more about my time at The Modern Firm, view the full case study.
