Scout & Molly’s Boutique is a women’s fashion franchise built around personal service, approachable style, and a shopping experience that feels welcoming rather than intimidating. As the brand expanded, it needed a pull-up banner that could support franchise conferences, recruiting events, and new store openings while communicating the opportunity quickly. The piece also needed to connect directly to the franchise brochure so both materials felt like parts of the same system.

I carried over the brochure’s playful typography, boutique photography, wood texture, and pink and green accents, then simplified the message for a format meant to be read from a distance. The large fashion image creates the first point of impact, while the store photography and short franchise benefits give viewers enough context to step closer and engage. The final banner became a practical extension of the franchise brochure, giving the brand a strong physical presence wherever it appeared.

This was a good example of adapting one visual direction to work at a completely different scale.

Scout & Molly’s Boutique is a women’s fashion retailer built around a welcoming, personalized shopping experience. As the brand expanded through franchising, it needed a brochure that could introduce the franchise opportunity while giving prospective owners a genuine sense of the brand’s personality, style, and customer experience.

I leaned into the boutique’s playful, eclectic identity and let the photography take the lead wherever possible. Rather than forcing the imagery into rigid layouts, I shaped the content around it, creating a visual rhythm that highlighted the fashion, reinforced the human side of the brand, and gave the brochure a distinctive personality. The result balanced practical franchise information with a design that felt as inviting and expressive as the stores themselves.

Some projects work best when the design steps back and lets the brand speak for itself.

Luchadough is a gourmet doughnut startup created by a friend. I don’t typically offer my design work pro bono, but in this case, I had the dual satisfaction of supporting my friend’s dream while at the same time creating a logo design with wrestling. This was a fun design!

The challenge was to create a logo that incorporated something reminiscent of the world of professional wrestling. As a lifelong wrestling fan, I had a blast with this. Basically, I created a logo mark that was a simplified representation of a Luchador mask. Luchadoughs are Mexican wrestlers, who wow audiences around the world with their athletics and colorful attire. Given that the word Lucha was within the name of the brand, this was a perfect fit for the iconography of the logo design. The typography was meant to be rugged and with plenty of personality. I gave the entire logo design a finish that made it look worn and scraped up. All of it was meant to vibe with the identity of wrestling as a whole. Black and yellow made for a badass color scheme that supported the entire theme.

In the years since, Luchadough has moved on to a different look and feel as its services evolved. Regardless, it’s a logo that I’m proud of and didn’t think twice about featuring in my portfolio.

The business cards needed to extend the brand into a small, tangible format that felt optimistic, contemporary, and aligned with the energy of the logo.

They wanted cards that felt bright and inviting while still looking professional and grounded in the identity we had already established. I treated the card as a split expression of the brand, keeping the front light and minimal with subtle logo presence and clean type, then using the back as a bold hit of color with the full gradient and white mark. The result was a compact piece that carried the same sense of momentum and care as the larger brand system.

They wanted the first piece landing in mailboxes to feel inviting and optimistic without drifting into medical or institutional territory. I carried over the circular forms from the logo, separated the core colors so they could play off one another, and structured the layout to feel lively while still easy to take in at a glance. The final mailer presents the center as open, confident, and ready to welcome the community into a new space focused on wellness.
